Our company, Cotswold Talent Solutions are proud to be working in partnership with a household name and supporting their Swindon production facilities team’s growth!

We are currently seeking CNC Setter/ Operators to join our clients growing team in Swindon!

The ideal candidate will have an experience working with CNC machines and a background in this area.

You will be working for a high-street brand, setting and operating the CNC machine which is an integral part of the operation!

This is a fantastic, Temporary to Permanent position which is also offering an immediate start!

Shifts available for the Warehouse Operative Role:

• Day shift – Monday to Friday
• 05.30 am – 14.00 pm
• Optional overtime throughout the week

Key Responsibilities:

• Setup & Operation: Operate and maintain our Felder Profit 08 3-axis CNC machine, ensuring optimal performance.
• Software Proficiency: Work within our software workflow
• Interpret and review designs created in SolidWorks with SWOOD design plugins
• Utilize SWOOD CAM software for final toolpath programming, optimization, and nesting to maximize material usage
• Transfer programs to the machine via network connection.
• Tooling & Material Management: Select and install appropriate tools for a variety of materials (e.g., solid wood, panel goods, composites)
• Machine Setup: Perform precise machine setup including tool calibration, zero-point positioning, and material securing.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct first-off and in-process inspections using digital callipers to ensure parts meet exact design specifications.
• Optimization: Suggest and implement improvements to nesting layout and machining processes to reduce waste and increase productivity.
• Health & Safety: Adhere to all Health & Safety requirements demanded from a wood working joinery, keep and maintain a clean, safe working environment always.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a CNC Operator, preferably in a woodworking or panel processing environment.
• Experience with 3-axis CNC routers/machining centres.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Familiarity with CAM software concepts. (Specific training on TPACAD and SWOOD can be provided for the right candidate with a strong base skillset).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Joinery workshop experience.

Preferred Qualifications (The Ideal Candidate)

• Direct, hands-on experience with a Felder CNC machine and its TPACAD software suite.
• Experience with SolidWorks, particularly SWOOD CAM and nesting.
• Knowledge of woodworking materials, their properties, and appropriate tooling.
• Understanding of advanced nesting software to minimize material waste.
• Certificate from a technical program in CNC machining, wood technology, or a related field.
